Associate Professor of Neurosurgery, Monash University

Dr. Lai is the Director of Cerebrovascular Surgery and Training at Melbourne's Monash Medical Centre. He is an expert in the surgical treatment of cerebrovascular disorders (aneurysms, AVMs, cavernomas, brain bypass), brain tumours, and skull base tumours (acoustic neuroma, meningioma).

Dr. Lai graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) and was given a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) for his research on surgical management and advancements in the treatment of brain aneurysms. He is an Academic Professor at Monash University's Department of Surgery.

Dr. Lai is devoted to academic practise and is actively engaged in clinical and laboratory-based research that pushes the limits of general, cerebrovascular, and skull base neurosurgery. His research has resulted in numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and editorials. He is the editor-in-chief of a recently published book titled Neurosurgical Diseases - An Evidence-Based Approach to Guide Practice, to which some of the world's most distinguished neurosurgeons contributed, and he is frequently invited to be a keynote speaker at prestigious national and international conferences in his research areas.
